This new capability significantly reduces the effort and time required to procure heat-treated milled parts, which traditionally involve long lead times and manual drawings. With Meviy, you can now order custom hardened components as easily as any other CNC part.

What is hardening?

 

Hardening is a heat treatment process that hardens metal components by rapidly cooling them after heating. This improves:

meviy currently supports hardening for the following CNC milled materials:

 

  • EN 1.2379 equiv. – High-carbon tool steel with excellent wear resistance
  • EN 1.7220 equiv (26 to 32 HRC) – Chromium-molybdenum steel offering superior strength and toughness
  • EN 1.1206 equiv. – Medium-carbon steel suited for general mechanical applications

 

In addition, electroless nickel plating and black oxide coating (ferric trioxide film) are available as surface treatment options after hardening—ideal for corrosion protection or functional finishes.

 

Important Notes on Hardened Parts

 

  • Blasting may be applied post-hardening to remove heat marks; this does not affect precision. The blast type cannot be specified.
  • Grinding may be performed at the factory’s discretion based on part requirements. Specific grinding instructions cannot be accepted.
  • Hardness test marks may be visible on the final part. You cannot specify the test location, but if confirmation is required, please include a comment when quoting (e.g. “Please confirm the test location in advance”).

 

    • Note: Additional test marks may still appear based on the post-hardening condition.
