New Materials and Surface Treatments Now Available For CNC-Milled Parts
From 3 August 2025, meviy will support a wider range of materials and surface treatments for CNC-milled parts-enabling engineers and procurement teams to specify components more precisely, without involving multiple suppliers.
You can now choose from new engineering materials-EN AW–5083 aluminium and anti-static MC Nylon-alongside four high-performance finishes: Nitriding, Clear Anodise (matte), Hard Anodise (clear, matte), and Electroless Nickel. This lets you better align material properties with design requirements, while quoting everything in one place.

New materials available for CNC milling
To better serve diverse industry needs—from cleanroom electronics to marine-grade structural parts—we’ve added two widely used engineering materials to our offering. These additions improve your ability to match material characteristics to specific functional demands, such as antistatic performance, corrosion resistance, or machinability.
EN AW – 5083 equiv. (Aluminium Alloy)
EN AW – 5083 equiv. is a high-strength aluminium alloy well known for its exceptional corrosion resistance, including seawater resistance, high strength, and excellent weldability. Compared to other aluminium grades, it also exhibits minimal distortion during machining, making it ideal for high-precision parts.
With meviy you can now get automatic quotation supported for parts up to:
W400 × D600 × H70 mm. Larger parts may be quoted manually.
Typical Applications:
- Marine and offshore structural components
- Welded parts in transport and defence industries
- Automotive assemblies requiring a high strength-to-weight ratio
- Parts where A5052-class alloys lack sufficient strength

MC Nylon (anti-static, black)
MC Nylon (anti-static, black) is a high-performance engineering plastic with carbon-based conductive additives that provide stable antistatic properties. It is widely used in cleanroom environments, semiconductor handling, and precision electronics, where ESD protection is critical. The uniform dispersion of filler ensures consistent electrical resistivity—even after machining.
Typical Applications:
- IC trays, anti-spark pallets
- Cleanroom rollers to prevent dust build-up
- Touch plates for discharge control
- Lightweight structural parts in ESD-safe systems
With meviy you can now get automatic quotation supported for parts up to:
W400 × D600 × H50 mm. Larger parts can be manually quoted.

Newly Supported Surface Treatments
Surface treatments are critical to ensuring components meet functional requirements, such as abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance, electrical performance, and aesthetic finish. This release adds four highly requested finishes, optimised for aluminium or steel substrates.
Clear Anodise (matte)
This anodic oxide coating is applied to aluminium surfaces with a matte finish that reduces reflectivity and offers a clean, uniform appearance. It’s ideal for visible parts, optical systems, and consumer-facing components where low glare and visual consistency are important.
Typical Applications:
- Optical equipment housings
- Aesthetic covers and enclosures
- Panels for instrumentation and control

Hard Anodise (clear, matte)
Hard anodising with a matte finish provides enhanced abrasion resistance, increased surface hardness, and reduced reflectivity in components made with aluminium alloys. It is especially effective for parts exposed to wear, friction, or direct lighting.
Typical Applications:
- Sensor enclosures
- Light-exposed housing parts
- Reflective panels in optical assemblies
- High-durability aluminium components

Electroless Nickel
This chemically deposited nickel coating creates a uniform, highly adhesive metal layer—ideal for complex shapes, corrosion-prone environments, and precision components. Electroless Nickel delivers consistent thickness, excellent wear resistance, and conductive properties, making it suitable for both mechanical and electronic uses.
Typical Applications:
- High-precision components
- Wear surfaces such as guides and sliders
- ESD-sensitive handling parts
- Cleanroom equipment

Nitriding
Nitriding is a heat-assisted surface treatment that infuses nitrogen into the metal substrate, forming a hard, wear-resistant surface layer. Unlike carburising or other hardening techniques, it maintains part geometry and enables tight tolerance control. The result is enhanced wear resistance, fatigue strength, and corrosion resistance.
Typical Applications:
- Sliding parts in machinery
- Fixtures and tooling components
- Applications demanding surface hardness with dimensional stability
Automatic quoting supported up to:
W300 × D400 × H70 mm. Larger dimensions can be manually quoted.

Conclusion
With the addition of EN AW–5083 aluminium, anti-static MC Nylon, and new surface treatments like nitriding and electroless nickel, meviy makes it easier to source high-performance, CNC-milled parts in one place.
This update reduces the need for manual coordination across suppliers, shortens lead times, and gives you greater control over material and finish selection-directly within the quoting process.
Whether you’re developing marine structures, cleanroom equipment or precision-engineered components, meviy offers the speed, flexibility and reliability your project demands
