Aluminium Composite Sheets Now Available for Instant Quotation
From April 2025, aluminium composite sheets are now available for instant quoting and ordering through meviy’s sheet metal processing service. This new material option is ideal for designers looking to reduce component weight without sacrificing rigidity—perfect for equipment covers, panels, and more. With just a 3D CAD upload, engineers can receive instant pricing and lead times, streamlining procurement from design to delivery. This update expands the possibilities for lightweight sheet metal parts, directly within meviy’s intuitive digital manufacturing platform.

What is Sheet Metal Processing?
Sheet metal processing refers to a manufacturing technique in which thin, flat metal sheets are cut, bent, punched, or otherwise formed into parts or assemblies. It’s widely used in industries ranging from automotive to electronics and robotics due to its cost-efficiency, structural precision, and design flexibility. At meviy, this process is fully digitalised – you can upload 3D models to receive instant quotes and delivery dates.
Aluminium Sheet Metals
Aluminium sheet metal is a popular choice in fabrication thanks to its lightweight properties, excellent corrosion resistance, and attractive finish. It’s ideal for applications where weight reduction is a priority without compromising on strength. Aluminium sheet metals are commonly used for enclosures, brackets, heat sinks, and decorative panels, and they are also easy to machine and surface treat. Now, with the addition of aluminium composite sheets, designers gain even more flexibility for lightweight applications.
What are Composite Sheets in Sheet Metal Processing?
Composite sheets are materials made from two or more layers of different metals or materials bonded together to provide enhanced properties that individual materials cannot offer. In sheet metal processing, aluminium composite panels consist of a lightweight core material, typically foamed polyethylene, sandwiched between two layers of aluminium. This combination creates a strong yet lightweight material, ideal for applications where both rigidity and reduced weight are crucial. These panels are highly resistant to corrosion, easy to machine, and offer excellent surface finish, making them perfect for use in industries such as automotive, electronics, and general manufacturing.
Supported Specifications and Shapes
Below is a summary of the available panel thicknesses, colours, and size range:
Material | Core Material | Surface Treatment | Colour | Plate Thickness | External Dimensions |
Aluminium Composite Material | Foamed Polyethylene Plastic | Colour Coating | Silver | 3.0 | Vertical (short): 10~1000 |
Black | Horizontal (long): 10~2000 |
Please note: for composite sheets, tapped holes, burr tapped holes, threaded inserts, and nut installation are not supported.
Machining Tolerances for Aluminium Composite Sheets
The standard machining tolerance for external dimensions is ±1.0 mm.
For other dimensional tolerances, please refer to the table below:
Standard Part | Tolerance Grade | Classification of Reference Dimensions | Tolerance
Symbol | Explanation | |||
Tolerance for Length Dimensions Excluding Chamfers | m | Intermediate | 0.5 or More and 3 or Less | ±0.1 |
More than 3 and Less than or Equal to 6 | ±0.1
More than 6 and Less than or Equal to 30 | ±0.2
More than 30 and Less than or Equal to 120 | ±0.3
More than 120 and Less than or Equal to 400 | ±0.5
More than 400 and Less than or Equal to 1000 | ±0.8
More than 1000 and Less than or Equal to 2000 | ±1.2
Tolerance for Chamfer Length Dimensions | c | Coarse Grade | 0.5 or More and 3 or Less | ±0.4 |
More than 3 and Less than or Equal to 6 | ±1
More than 6 | ±2 |
Additional Notes on Machining
- If your 3D model includes sharp corners or radii under R3, machining will be applied with a standard R3 corner radius.
For sharper edges or smaller radii, please contact meviy support for a custom quotation.
- Appearance and Finish
Countersunk holes and edge profiles may expose the resin core.
While deburring is performed, the surface metal layer may have sharp edges due to the nature of the material.
Please take care when unpacking and handling the parts.
- All composite sheets parts are delivered with a protective film to minimise surface scratches.
- Note: Colour variations may occur depending on part geometry and machining surfaces.
