About Hairline Direction

EN 1.4301 equiv.(single-sided hairline finish) has a hairline finish on the main appearance surface. (See the figure on the right)
The polishing direction of the hairline finish is called the “hairline direction”, and with the meviy Sheet Metal service, you can check the hairline direction in the 3D viewer.
Depending on the shape, you can also request a quotation by switching between the longitudinal and transverse directions of the flat pattern.

When the material “EN 1.4301 equiv. (single-sided hairline finish)” is selected, the automatically determined hairline direction is displayed near the model in the 3D viewer.
For shapes in which the longitudinal direction of the flat pattern can be uniquely determined, you can switch the hairline direction between the longitudinal and transverse directions of the flat pattern by double-clicking the displayed hairline direction text.

	Double-click “Hairline Direction > ” to switch the hairline direction between the longitudinal and transverse directions.

Calculates the maximum rectangle of the unfolded drawing, and develops horizontally in the direction of the longest side of the rectangle.
As shown here, automatic quotation is available when the hairline direction matches the longitudinal direction of the flat pattern.
If the hairline direction is changed to the transverse direction of the flat pattern, a Manual quotation will be required.

In some cases, the maximum rectangle of the unfolded drawing is not defined, or the longest side of the rectangle cannot be defined (See the figure on the right.). For such shapes, the hairline direction is optional.

Notes

Please make the hairline direction parallel to the 100 mm side.
Please apply a hairline finish in the direction parallel to the three slotted holes.
Make the hairline direction perpendicular to the direction shown on the screen.

The effect of expansion due to bending must be taken into account when calculating the unfolded dimensions for manufacturing.
In the case of EN 1.4301 equiv.(single-sided hairline), the expansion is about twice the thickness of the plate at each bending point, so the unfolded dimensions become shorter by that amount. As a result, please note that the longitudinal direction in the 3D model and the unfolded drawing may be switched. (See the figure on the right)
